Our challenge is sponsored by Trimcraft who contacted Arty Girlz as they are about to launch their exciting new website on 1st May ~ Here's some info...

This amazing new website boasts tons of fantastic features including: create your own profile page, search and add friends, message and contact other crafters in real time, monthly competitions, create your own project gallery and watch Craft videos updated every week. Enough to keep any crafter busy for a long time!

Inspiration hits you at every turn with Craft videos showing you the latest techniques and tips and forums enabling you to discuss ideas with fellow users. One of the best features is the ability to show not only a full project gallery, but to add instructions and to comment on others projects and even add one another as friends! Not technically minded? Don't worry.
Trimcraft has been created with you in mind. All our features are user-friendly and mean that using the site will always be a pleasure. If you do have any questions, we have a full team of friendly staff who will give you a helping hand.

Taking crafting into the 21st century, this website provides a solution to every crafting-need. There is even a great feature where users can contact local demonstrators to ask questions about upcoming or past demos. You can see the full profile of the demonstrator including profile picture and past projects they have done.

Bursting with content and activities, the only problem you will have is ever logging off the site!Pre-registration is already kicking into gear with all those pre-registered having automatic entry into a prize draw to win £1000 worth of craft vouchers from their favourite stockist. Get in ahead of the crowd and be one of the first to have access to some of the fantastic features on site launch. A website that will truly be at the top of everyone's' favourites list.

Click the banner to go to the website :)

Crissi and I were very lucky to be given special early access to the site and it really is amazing!! There's literally everything that you need in one place and the site is so easy to navigate. Don't worry though we resisted the urge to type 'Arty Girlz were here' on the message board ;)

Trimcraft have been extrememly generous and one random lucky person will win this brilliant prize and there will be further sponsored prizes from Trimcraft in the future so keep an eye out for them ;)

We were also lucky to receive the same as the prize offered to use in our examples this week ~ here's what we did...

Arty Girlz Challenge #31 'Handmade Backgrounds' Sponsored by The Artistic Stamper

This week's challenge has been set by our talented Guest Designer Paula from Mini Book Pixie blog who says:

"I love patterened paper very much but it is far too easy to whack on cards etc. So for my theme, I want to see handmade backgrounds. Get those fingers inky & painted & make a custom piece of paper/card for your design"
This weeks prize

This challenge is Sponsored by The Artistic Stamper and look at the fantastic prize that is on offer this week: The stamps are deep etched red rubber, The Artistic stamper also manufacture Kling-On plus have loads of accessories including the chipboard shapes embossing powders and all sorts of lovely scrummy stash to play with so pop on over and take a look at their shop

Here is Paula's stunning creation followed by a description of how she made it

"Mine is made with distress inks. I love all aspects of crafting but am moving more towards mixed media as I love mixing up different mediums & rubber stamping my designs. Though I will never give up my coveted Basic Grey papers, I do like to make my own backgrounds as it feels more like my design. Paula"

We also have the lovely Jane as Guest Designer this week here's a short bio from the lady herself:-

Hi I'm Jane, mother to 4 grown sons & proud grandmum to 5 gorgeous grandkids. Born & bred in Wiltshire, I now live in north Shropshire with my partner & 2 barmy dogs. I first got into crafting 3yrs ago when I was made medically retired, I have mobility problems that have drastically changed my life, from being an active hard working run around girl with a crazy social life to being placed in the slow lane & virtually housebound. Paper crafting has been my salvation & helped keep me sane {although I am not sure that sane is really a word to describe me lol} I started out as a cardmaker & rapidly moved on to scrapbooking which I love, now I have gone back to cardmaking again in a big way, in fact I am a proud member of the Scrapagogo Greetings DT. Another addition for me is the field of making & trading ATCs, I have a huge collection of these mini works of art from all over the globe.I was thrilled to bits to be asked to be a guest designer for the Arty Girlz as I have been friends with Crissi & Julie for well over 2yrs now & I am so proud of their success. I support them werever I can & I wish them all the luck for their continued growth & success with the blog, I am always inspired by the work they both produce.I just love that this mini album has all different pages, each one a different shape than the last. It is also very tactile, as I do love to be able to touch my work as well as see it. My partner is slowly going blind & he is training to work with blind children, I have taken this on board & it has inspired me to make my projects as tactile as possible

Jane has created a beautiful Eclectic Mini Book for this challenge - Here's a sneak peek of a couple of pages but you'll have to visit HERE to see the rest on Jane's Blog.

We also have the very talented Rosie Rowe as Guest Designer this week. Here is Rosie's wonderful creation followed by a short bio from the lady herself :)

I'm Rosie, married with a 13 yo DD, living in a madhouse in rural Devon. We have 2 dogs, a cat and DH's parrot. I'm a WAHM and also help run my DH's charitable organisation for disabled anglers. I've always been 'arty' and since I was a child, I've drawn, painted, sewn, knitted, crocheted, and tried oils and watercolours very briefly. I've lived abroad for quite a lot of my life and only seriously started crafting again in early 2006 when I joined Aunty's Forum.I love papercrafting and went from making cards, to scrapbooking and making mini-books, to altered art and now dabble in collage and mixed media too! I use a lot of recyclable material in my artwork and volunteer at our local Family Workshop and Resource Centre (aka Scrapstore) on Monday mornings. They let me play with fabric, plastic, paints, clay, whatever needs sorting, I spend a couple of happy hours there.

I was really excited when Julie & Crissi said I could be GD on Artygirlz, as I've been a wholehearted supporter of theirs since they started their challenge blog - plus the fact that we're all on the Design Team together on Auntys Forum! My style is ever-evolving and very eclectic. I'm always excited about learning new techniques or using new materials, as you'll know if you read my blog. The only things I can't do are cute and traditional - off-the-wall or funky, loud and textured is more my thing!

I made this Memo Board for my MIL, from an old wipe-clean noticeboard that I got with a cross-stitch magazine, so I'd had it a while!! Pretty and practical, it sits beside her phone and she says it's very handy!"
